Swiss Side Aero Sensor: Eurobike 2018 Status Update
Description
Here's a quick status update on Swiss Side and their upcoming aero sensor, meant to provide realtime CDA, wind speed, and wind angle while out on the bike during a training or racing day. The idea behind this is that you can make adjustments on the fly and save time. CdA is the coefficient of drag for your front area, or essentially how much drag you create. The higher the number, the worse you are aero-wise. A road cyclist sitting up might be a 0.40-.50 - whereas on the drops might get down to .35-.40. A triathlete with a blah-position might be in the .30ish range, and then a good position would be .20-.25 or so, and below that you're looking at rather good results (again, super simplistic ranges). But it's not quite as easy as that because many factors contribute to it, including how much an athlete can sustain in a more aggressive position that might be faster, but not viable for 5 hours.
Look for me to profile other aero sensor updates in the next few days, including updates from AeroLab and Notio (Notio Konect)
