ROBOTIC SNARE DRUM (self playing)

I designed and manufactured an all metal mechanism that attaches to a snare drum and plays it. The mechanism uses a high power solenoid (96W) which pushes the stick against the drum patch through a series of hinges and levers. Although I made a wooden prototype that worked perfectly first try it took me three attempts to replicate it exactly as I took design decisions that modified the first design and made it substantially worse.
This robotic snare drum is a part of my bigger project, the Miranda Music Machine that will play a bunch of instruments that I will either build or modify so I can compensate for my lack of musical ability.
As my music and instrument knowledge is limited I welcome you to shed light about the parts of the project that I may be butchering in the comments.
