I’m gutting my grandparents' 52-year-old calculator and giving it new life with a fresh design using walnut and hickory. The challenge with recasing old electronics in wood lies in replicating the complex shapes that plastic can achieve. This calculator holds a lot of memories for me, and I want to honor its history by transforming it into a sculpture, complete with a stand that will make it an eye-catching centerpiece in any room.
