The aerospace and defence industries are renowned for leading the way in innovation. It is therefore unsurprising that these industries have been key adopters of 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
The 2024 TCT Aerospace & Defence Application Award – Sponsored by Hyphen Innovation was awarded to Boeing for Phased Array Antenna Cold Plate.
The use of aluminium alloy powder bed fusion to produce this multi-functional cold plate for the O3d satellite constellation has increased the strength and lifespan whilst reducing costs by 80%.
