Description

The Yucatán Peninsula is often simply called Cancun. But it consists of many areas and Cancun is just one small part of it.

The Yucatán Peninsula is a region in southeastern Mexico. It extends into the Atlantic Ocean, separating the Gulf of Mexico from the Caribbean Sea. The peninsula is about 200 miles wide and has a coastline of about 700 miles. It includes the Mexican states of Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán. The peninsula also includes large parts of Belize and Guatemala.

The Yucatán Peninsula is a significant area for ancient Mayan culture. It is home to many Mayan archaeological sites, including Chichen Itza and Uxmal. The peninsula is still home to native Maya people and people of Mayan descent.

The Yucatán Peninsula is also known for its natural beauty. It has beaches, pink lakes, cenotes, mangroves, and tropical gardens. It also includes the largest forest in Mexico and the second-largest tropical rainforest in Latin America.

The largest airport in the Yucatán Peninsula is Cancun International Airport. This airport has the most direct flights and is a convenient starting point for travel to Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.

The first Cenote and Chichén Itzá were part of a tour bus experience by Cancun Bay Tours.

We took a private shuttle to the Tulum Mayan Ruins. When you go there be sure to take the short walk at the exit to the beach to go snorkeling and take a boat tour of the ruins. The beach is a short walk after you exit the Tulum Mayan Ruins.

Playa Paraiso, also known as Paradise Beach, is a famous sandy beach in Tulum, Mexico. It's located in the Riviera Maya, just south of the Tulum ruins. That is where the snorkeling footage from the video came from.

We styed at Playa del Carmen which is a 14 mile stretch of beach hotels and resorts. We stayed at an Airbnb type rental called the Singular Dream.
