AUTOMATIC HIHAT MACHINE (stays open or closed with no power!)

Every drum kit needs a hihat so I made a robotic one that plays automatically. I used a couple of latching solenoids that are stable in both the opened and closed positions so I can have the hihat opened and closed without overheating the solenoids. Bistable solenoids need the polarity of both leads to be swapped to change state so I used a relay array controlled by an Arduino to show you how it works. I know I've said that the music machine will work without electronics but I cannot do the polarity swap by hand and I still haven't decided yet on how I'm going to play this thing. It obviously works great and sounds horrible but I'll get some help when the time to make music comes.
